If you want to increase your what your home is worth, it’s important to tick all the right boxes so you are adding value without being out of pocket. Thankfully, you don’t always have to add another bedroom or carry out a big extension. There are lots of brilliant ways to help add value and boost the appeal of your home.

Touch up. Decorating is perhaps the most obvious task when thinking about how to add value to your home. Small defects won’t directly affect the value of your home, but it could put off potential buyers and therefore stop your property for selling at the optimum price.

Improving your efficiency. Although costly, adding or updating the central heating system could increase your value but this can be done in conjunction with improving the general energy efficiency of the building. This could include, sealing any drafts around doors and windows, replacing windows that are beyond repair with double glazing or adding insulation into the loft space.

Is a rewire needed?  Updating the electrics may be essential if the house has not been rewired for some years. You should be able to tell by looking by the meter if there is an old fuse box. Adding extra/new sockets and switches will also increase the appeal of your home.

All about the garden. Since the pandemic, garden’s have been come increasingly more popular on a buyers ‘must list’. Obviously, landscaped and well-designed gardens can be more appealing, but making sure it is well maintained and attractive may increase the value.
